Welcome to Alectro! This guide is here to help you with any questions you might have during the onboarding process.
The onboarding takes approximately 5 minutes and is a key part of your analysis.
If you have any questions or suggestions for this page, feel free to drop us an email 👋.

We’ll start with a few basic details about you and how you work.
Please enter the office location where you’re primarily based. Even if you only commute in once a month (or less), you should still select your main office location.
If you’re fully remote, still select an office location here—you’ll have a chance to indicate your remote status later.
We understand that work patterns vary, but for this analysis, “full-time” generally means working 37.5 hours per week or more.
That includes schedules like:
3.5 shifts of 12 hours
4 days of 9-hour shifts
5 days of 8-hour shifts
These all count as full-time.
If your organisation is trialling a 4-day workweek as standard, this still qualifies as full-time—so please leave the box checked.

Although your commute may vary month to month, please provide your best estimate of your average commute for a typical month.
You can make adjustments for specific months later in your profile.
If you’re fully remote, you can indicate that here.
Add each leg of your commute using the appropriate method of transport. We’ll automatically calculate the total distance and environmental impact. You’ll be able to view this on a heatmap in your profile after onboarding.
If your journey is:
Home → Drive to Milton Keynes Station → Train to Blackfriars → Tube to Waterloo → Walk to Office,
you would enter the following:
Start
Starting Point: Your home address
Mode: Select Driving (Normal Car)
Point 2
Location: Milton Keynes Station
Mode: Select Train
Point 3
Location: Blackfriars Station
Mode: Select Underground
Point 4
Location: Waterloo Station
Mode: Select Walking
End
End Location: Your office
Cycling from the Palace of Westminster to Green Park Underground, followed by taking the bus to The Piazza, London.

If you never work from home, you can indicate that here.
Some electricity suppliers offer low-carbon, renewable, or “green” tariffs. Please select Yes, No, or Unknown to reflect your current setup.
You can usually find this information on your electricity bill—it may be listed as a Green Tariff or Renewable Tariff.
On average, how many hours of heating do you use during the working day in winter?
This typically refers to standard working hours (9 AM to 5 PM).
By default, we assume heating is used from October to March and off from April to September, but you can update this in your profile later.

Employee engagement is a key pillar of the Alectro platform. By answering these questions and sharing your views on environmental issues, you’re helping your company understand where improvements and support are needed.
This feedback loop is essential for building and maintaining a best-in-class sustainability programme.

As part of its ongoing sustainability strategy, the company aims to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Whether through carbon offsetting or specific direct actions, the SDGs offer a blueprint for creating a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
By selecting your top SDGs, you can help shape the company’s actions and guide co-development project priorities.

Great — you’re all done! Thanks for completing your onboarding.
So, what happens next?
You can begin exploring your profile right away. It will show your personal impact, allow comparisons with colleagues, and give you the option to adjust any information that doesn’t look quite right.
Once all company-wide data is uploaded and verified, we’ll send you an email so you can dive deeper into the full analysis.
Going forward:
Your commute and working-from-home data will automatically update each month.
You can make manual adjustments anytime.
We’ll ask you to review and confirm your data annually before final submission for the company impact report.
From time to time, you’ll also be invited to share your opinion or vote on company sustainability initiatives—this can be done directly through your profile.

Most of the questions relate to things you likely know off the top of your head. Rather than asking for specific dates (like whether you were in the office on a random Thursday last March), we ask for an average month.
You can always update your answers later if something doesn’t seem right. We’ve designed this process to be simple and streamlined, without needing you to dig up old data.
That said, if you’re ever unsure, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help.
Absolutely! You can easily update any month through your profile.
Just head to the My Impact section and make changes in either the Commute or Working from Home areas as needed.
